Naphthalene is a mothball for clothes and hung in toilet of every house for long history. It is not only warm weather country in Thailand, but also it is common household practice in all over the world.
And no one got cancer by being in toilet where Naphthalene is hanged.
Naphthalene, purity 99.6% mimimum is widely known as the unique smell. When human / or insects feel uncomfortable, they just go away . Why Naphthalene has been used as mothball for long years in all over the world? Insects may not have developed resistance.
Some people say Naphthalene is toxin. But everybody undersand that we have the stink smells many time a day and wear in the closet. We have no health problem of it in house. It’s just smell.

<What is made of>
Coal It is fossil of tree. It is made of Naphthalene oil and bleached then solid, when coal tar were processed.
<USE>
It is used for various purposes from medical, agricultural chemicals to explosive as basic chemical material.
<WARNING>
1. Don't eat. If kids have it, spit out as soon as possible. Then wash the stomach
2. Don't touch soft skin or eye.
3. Wash hand when touch it.
4. Don't heat it or try to dissolve.
5. Go out and get fresh air when feel it bad.
6. There is no necessary to hang many Naphthalene in close area.
It is not better to stay closer for long time. It smells.
If you feel stink much, it may be too much to have it there.
Take some away for less and keep more distance in between.
[How to use]
There are 2 method. 1) Hanging it in the air to be sublimated and 2) Put it on the ground
It gets rid of insects or birds to coming for the tasty part of plant
Naphthalene is not an insecticide. It's just a mothball. The function is to prevent plants, crops and flower. Less chemical procedure give easier for plant growth. But when pests were began in the certain period, the insecticides should be sprayed properly.

<IMPORTANT>
Recommed to hang it before the insects come for eat or egg into the nut or flower.
No mother, No Worm.

Warm temperature and a lot of wind get sublimation faster, and cool keep it longer. |

Photo show, It's not good, It should have many holes to get oxygen to be sublimated. This is slow and not affective. Naphthalene is need to meet oxygen then insects dislike the sublimated air.

It is Non-soluble to water, It is impossible to spray. If you try, get plugged up.

[Less insect, Less insecticides]
Grapes
Mr.Kampol of Nakhon Pathom reduced the cost of insecticide a lot. Butterfly gone. He used to spray once in 3 days but became only once a week. So that his cost was dropped to B4000 from B10,000 in 4 month. Less insecticide and less insects made his grapes grown better.
30g pingpong ball were hanged 5m distance and close to grapes. No smelled to grapes.
Tourist Farm
Tourist grapes farm is very popular recently at Kao Yai hilly country. Mr.Sanit told us that he would try to reduce spray as much as he can. Because tourist like to pick grapes direct from tree. He heard about Naphthelene useful by radio. So he put it in water pet bottle and hang them in the center line. This way is better than just there. Tourist may be not smell much. He does not worry about insects bites on outline of grapes.

Dragoon fruits
This is a unique red skinned fruits of cactus family originated from Mexico. Heavy stem needs to be held bu concrete pole and have a heavy crop at the end. Looks like dragoon sitting.
Insect caused problem for crop. This farm hangs a bag for each one.
The farmer get the Naphthalene small ball in the supermarket and make bag for. It is common practice to replace every month. It must be better to make holes in the bag. So that it is evaporated better to be prevented.

Chomphu
It is a typical Thai fruits. Mr.Kampol has been the problem of the fruits fly for many years. It is large tree to grow sweet red one originated in Indonesia. He made the bags of small balls and then put 3 bags per tree. It came out less pests and grown better.
 
Orchid

Nasabi, a pink orchidas know the breeder Mr.Prasit has This beautiful flowers in his large green house. He had heard about useful of Naphthalene in the radio and then used to have it for already 5 years. To extend the smell all over it is hanged high and 10m distance. At first it was worried about rain to be dissolved. So he put a packed back as like raincoat.
Naphthalene is non-soluble.
This way is also a good to control evaporation by supplying less oxygen and not feel the smell.
Spraying once in 2 weeks and a half density of standard level. It's enough for this house. The environment around the house has been less insect pests. It is better for all of flower. |

This is also popular for mothball use. But it is not recommend to have p-Dichlorobenzene for Agriculture or prevention in you garden.
